What Is Morning Recovery Drink?

Morning Recovery is a drink packed with natural herbal ingredients with vitamins and minerals intended to alleviate the symptoms of a hangover.

The manufacturers have built their product around a little known ingredient called Dihydromyricetin (DHM) which apparently has anti-hangover properties.

You’ll find DHM in most top hangover products nowadays but Morning Recovery claim that theirs is better absorbed than the others.

Aside from this, their website claims that Morning Recovery will:

  • Help your liver break down alcohols toxic by-products
  • Replenish lost nutrients after drinking
  • Stop you having bad hangovers

Just by taking a look at their website, you can see that Morning Recovery definitely have their branding and advertising on point.

Over the years we’ve learned not to pay too much attention to marketing material. Especially with companies that have huge amounts of money as this product does.

The best way to tell whether a product is worth spending your money on is to take a close look at how it’s meant to work and what ingredients are actually used to achieve this goal.

How Does Morning Recovery Drink Work?

To understand how the ingredient in Morning Recovery Drink prevents hangover symptoms, we first need to cover how hangovers affect your body in the first place.

When you drink alcohol, your liver breaks it down to produce energy. During this process, your liver produces waste products which are toxic – much like a car engine produces toxic fumes after burning fuel.

Your body utilizes an array of antioxidants which clear these toxic by-products from your liver before they are released into your bloodstream.

During periods of overindulgence, this system is exhausted and depleted which leads to a build-up of harmful by-products.

Left unchecked, these waste products cause damage to the cells they come into contact with which stimulates an inflammatory response.

This is why hangovers symptoms typically affect all areas of your body including headache, nausea, body aches and so on.

Morning Recovery has natural ingredients which replenish used up antioxidants.

By doing so, the theory is that Morning Recovery Drink should reduce the amount of damage caused by alcohols toxic by-products and ultimately the severity of your hangovers.

Next, we’ll take a closer look at the ingredients and how they work individually.

Morning Recovery Ingredients

Unfortunately, Morning Recovery Drink uses a proprietary blend with most of its key ingredients hidden behind it.

This means we are unable to see the exact dosages which makes it harder for us to judge the efficacy of this product.

We often see manufacturers use a proprietary blend and claim it’s to conceal their “secret formula”.

In actual fact, proprietary blends are much cheaper to produce and it significantly increases the manufacturer’s profit margins.

That being said, let’s take a look at what’s actually in Morning Recovery Drink.

Dihydromyricetin (DHM)

Morning Recovery has identified DHM as its key ingredient for good reason. It’s been shown in studies to increase the rate at which your liver clears alcohol from your blood stream.

This is important because the less alcohol in your system, the less toxic by-products will be produced.

The website suggests that the DHM is Morning Recovery Drink is better absorbed than its competitors. However, there is no explanation of how this is achieved. For now, we will give them the benefit of doubt and take their word for it.

Milk Thistle

You’ll find milk thistle as the key ingredient in any liver detox supplement. The reason is, it’s been shown in studies to reduce inflammation in the liver. These perceived health benefits have been linked to milk thistles antioxidant properties.

When it comes to hangovers, there aren’t any specific studies which have put this ingredient to the test, but you’ll always find people who swear by it.

Prickly Pear

Prickly pear is actually the fruit of a type of cactus. A study in 2004 showed that this ingredient’s anti-inflammatory actions can reduce hangover symptoms.

The results were obtained from testing prickly pear on 55 subjects and found that hangover severity was overall significantly less. The results were promising but need research to conclude whether it actually works.

Vitamin C

Most people will know that vitamin C is good for your immune system but it’s also an antioxidant vitamin. It typically works well with vitamin E as they compliment each other but unfortunately this is not included in their formulation.

Magnesium

It’s well known that alcohol depletes magnesium stores from your cells. We always like to see it included in a hangover prevention supplement however morning recovery have only included 40mg which is a small dose.

Green tea

Aside from its antioxidant properties, green tea also contains L-Theanine which is an amino acid that can help settle anxious nerves.

Hangovers and anxiety go hand in hand and if you’ve ever experienced “hangxiety” you’ll know all about the uncomfortable feelings after a big night out.

Missing Ingredients

While there are some great ingredients in this product, we were disappointed to note the absence of a few key ingredients.

Ginger – Nausea is one of the main symptoms of a hangover and some may even argue the worst. Therefore we always want to see ginger included in any hangover prevention supplement as it’s the most research-backed natural anti-sickness remedy there is.

Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin) – Although Morning Recovery includes most of the important B-vitamins, we were surprised to see the omission of vitamin B2 because they all work in harmony to support the livers metabolic function.

Piperine – This ingredient is extracted from black pepper and is known to increase the absorption of nutrients from your gut. It doesn’t have any anti-hangover properties but it increases the overall efficacy of your supplement so you get the most out of what you’re paying for.

N-Acetyl-Cysteine (NAC) – This amino acid is used by your liver to produce glutathione which is known as the bodies master antioxidant.

How Do You Take Morning Recovery Drink?

The manufacturers suggest taking one bottle after your last drink. You can even use it as the mixer for your last drink.

They also emphasize that it’s really important to take Morning Recovery as recommended because it won’t work if you’re already hungover.

If you wake up in the morning and realize you’ve forgotten to drink it the night before, there’s not much point in taking it.

The reason is, the ingredients need to work while alcohol is still in your bloodstream and before the toxic by-products can cause damage.

What Does It Taste Of?

Morning Recovery has recently released two new versions of their drink.

The old version had a peach flavor which has been discontinued. Now they only do a lemon flavored drink.

They also offer a sugar-free version if you’re looking to cut back on the calories.

Side Effects Of Morning Recovery Drink

The ingredients are all-natural with no stimulants of medicines. Therefore the chances of experiencing side effects are minimal.

That being said, everyone is different and may have intolerances to some of the ingredients in Morning Recovery Drink.

The best thing to do is check the ingredients label carefully to see if there’s anything that may not sit well with you.

Morning Recovery Drink Price

you can purchase Morning Recovery in a 6 and 12 pack bundle costing $35 and $70 respectively.

This works out around $5.83 per bottle which is pricey when it comes to hangover prevention supplements.

Most other solutions on the market are a lot cheaper so it’s something to bear in mind.

Morning Recovery Drink Reviews

Reviews

At the time of writing, Morning Recovery has 3.9 out of 5 stars on Amazon with 363 reviews.

Many customers report their hangovers significantly improved after taking it.

There are, however, 100 negative reviews for Morning Recovery with most saying either the product didn’t work for them or made them feel worse.

Lots of people really don’t like the taste of it which is a problem with a hangover drink. Unfortunately, not everyone is going to like it!

Anything Else To Consider?

As highlighted in the customer reviews, there are a few practical issues with Morning Recovery Drink.

Although they may include most of the ingredients we would look for in a hangover prevention supplement, the fact that it’s a drink will inevitably leave some customers unhappy.

If you’re someone who doesn’t like lemon flavored drinks, the chances are you’re going to struggle with Morning Recovery Drink.

In addition, it’s naturally a difficult product to travel with because it’s a drink. Traveling with a 6 pack of glass bottles on your holiday is far from ideal.

Also if you’re catching a flight, you’re going to have to ditch some of your essential toiletries to make way for Morning Recovery in your hand luggage.

That’s why overall we prefer hangover pills which contain all the ingredients morning recovery does without the practical issues. You can find out more about our pick of the best hangover prevention pills here.

Will Morning Recovery Drink Help You Prevent Hangovers?

Morning Recovery Drink has most of the key ingredients you’d want in a hangover prevention supplement and it will reduce hangover symptoms if taken properly.

That being said we think there are better options on the market which have a more comprehensive ingredient list without the added practical issues that come with Morning Recovery Drink.

It’s also more expensive than its competitors.

Review Conclusion – Final Thoughts

That brings us to the end of our Morning Recovery Review. We think its a decent supplement with most of the key ingredients needed to give you the best chance of reducing your hangover symptoms.

We don’t currently rate it as one of the very best because of the omission of ginger, NAC and piperine. They also use a proprietary blend which means we don’t know exactly how much of each ingredient is included.

Furthermore, it’s not easy to travel with and you may not like the taste of the drink.

Overall we believe there are better options on the market which offer a more complete solution.
