If you are a vegan that likes organic ingredients then you will love Orgain Organic Protein Powder.

This protein powder contains a blend of organic pea protein, organic brown rice protein, and organic chia seed. Pea protein is a vegan-friendly source of protein that is rich in branched-chain amino acids, which are important for muscle growth and recovery. Brown rice protein is also a plant-based protein that is easy to digest and contains all of the essential amino acids needed for muscle growth and repair. Chia seeds are rich in fiber and omega-3 fatty acids, which are important for heart health.

In addition to the protein blend, Orgain Organic Protein Powder also contains an Organic 50 Superfoods Blend, which includes 50 organic superfood ingredients. These include fruits, vegetables, and greens such as kale, spinach, beets, blueberries, and acai berries. Superfoods are packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that help support overall health and well-being.

Orgain Organic Protein Plant-Based Powder Nutrition Info

One serving is two scoops and contains 160 calories: 21 grams of protein, 5 grams of fat (1 gram of saturated fat) and 20 grams of carbs (1g fiber, 5g sugar alcohol, 1 gram sugar).

While one scoop of Orgain Organic Protein Plant-Based Powder provides 4% of your daily calcium and 15% of your daily iron, it’s important to note that the nutrition label does not list any vitamins. However, it contains a relatively high amount of sodium at 8% of your daily intake or 180 milligrams.

Orgain Organic Protein Plant-Based Powder Overview

In this section, I’ll focus on the ingredients other than taste, which I’ll discuss in the “Taste” section below. One thing I appreciate about Orgain Organic Protein Powder is that it provides complete plant-based proteins without using soy. While I wish it listed the amount of each amino acid per scoop, I’m confident that the blend of pea, brown rice, chia, and hemp protein offers all the essential amino acids.

Unfortunately, the product doesn’t list any vitamins other than 4% of your daily calcium and 15% of your daily iron, both of which can be challenging to obtain on a plant-based diet. However, I think it would have been beneficial to include some Vitamin C, which helps with iron absorption.

It’s worth noting that this protein powder isn’t particularly low in carbs, with 20 grams of carbs for every 21 grams of protein. The carb count is somewhat controversial since some people believe that fiber and sugar alcohol (like erythritol) don’t “count” or absorb like regular starches and sugars. While it’s difficult to say whether this is true for everyone, some individuals may experience digestive issues like gas and cramping from consuming sugar alcohol. Consequently, those with sensitive stomachs should consider this aspect before using the product.

Orgain Organic Protein Plant-Based Powder Price

The price of Orgain Organic Protein can vary quite a bit depending where you get it and what size you get.

It can also be pretty expensive, the last tub I bought was from the grocery store, and it was $25 for a 10-serving tub. Ouch!

I would definitely shop around if I were you. You can find it cheaper at Costco, I have also bought it from there and you can find it online too. You just need to watch for shipping charges.

Orgain Organic Protein Plant-Based Powder Taste

Here is the part I am sure a lot of you are here for—the taste.

I bought and tested the Vanilla Bean flavor. I almost always go for the vanilla flavor when choosing a protein powder. It’s a safe choice. Chocolate is also pretty safe, but I prefer vanilla.

Once I opened the tub I got a strong vanilla smell. Somehow just that smell made me think it was going to be good. I wasn’t;’t wrong.

I mixed it with almond milk and was quite pleased with the taste. It was an almondy vanilla taste that was quite enjoyable.

I also mixed it with straight water to see how that would compare. It was pretty good, had a nice vanilla flavor and was easy to drink.

That being said, I preferred the flavor when mixed with almond milk vs water.

They have ten different flavors. I only tried the Vanilla Bean and thought it was pretty darn good. I would recommend it.

As for the other flavors, you are on your own. I just know the Vanilla Bean is good.

Mixability

Given that Orgain Protein Powder doesn’t contain lecithin, I braced myself for clumps of powder in my mouth. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it mixed quite well with almond milk.

While there were still some small clumps, the mixability was above average, if not perfect. As predicted, it mixed even better with water.

Is Orgain Protein Powder 3rd Party Tested?

All Orgain products undergo heavy metal testing for arsenic, cadmium, mercury, and lead. The company meticulously sources ingredients and reviews manufacturers’ testing data before using them. Orgain adheres to current U.S. Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for all product manufacturing.

Side Effects of Orgain Organic Protein Powder

Plant-based proteins generally contain fewer amino acids, particularly methionine, lysine, and tryptophan, compared to animal proteins like whey. Consequently, individuals who rely solely on plant-based proteins may be at risk of reduced protein synthesis and inadequate intake of essential amino acids.

While whey protein powders are often associated with stomach upset, especially for those who are lactose intolerant, the Orgain plant-based protein may offer better tolerance for individuals with sensitive stomachs. Nicole did not use it long enough to observe a noticeable difference, but numerous customers have reported improved stomach comfort after switching from whey to plant-based protein powder.

Customer Reviews for Orgain Organic Protein Powder

The Orgain organic plant-based protein powder receives an impressive average rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars on the brand’s website. It garners high praise from customers who have food sensitivities or follow restrictive diets, as it allows them to increase their protein intake while being mindful of ingredient choices. Customers also appreciate its enjoyable taste, smooth blending properties, and balanced sweetness. These positive reviews highlight the fact that taste preferences can vary greatly among individuals.

Of course, there are also some negative reviews out there. This guy really didn’t like the taste and referred to it as Play-Doh and sidewalk chalk. I didn’t test the chocolate flavor but I think his review is a bit much.

Is Orgain Protein Powder Worth It?

I would say Orgain Protein Powder is worth it if you can find it at a reasonable price. Buying it at the grocery store is too expensive, in my experience. If you are a vegan and can get it for a more reasonable price I think you will like it and think it is worth it.

Conclusion

I think it’s pretty safe to say if you are a vegan looking for a good plant-based protein powder you will really like Orgain Organic Protein.

It is loaded with healthy, organic ingredients, and the taste of the Vanilla Bean flavor was very good. I didn’t test any other flavors though so I can’t say if they will taste as good as the Vanilla Bean did.

I would say this is definitely one of the best vegan protein powders on the market today, would recommend.

I definitely agree with the taste on this review. Some people out there don’t like or think it is too strong but I really like it. I buy mine at costco which seems to be the best deal.
