Can you tell us your thoughts on 14.1 going in and your performance?
It was a fun back to back type workout. One that you knew you could keep going but you also knew it was going to hurt! I felt that I did the best that I could do, wasn’t 100% happy with my outcome, BUT it is a good enough score to get me to where I need to go. My main objective right now is to not win the Open, although if I did I wouldn’t complain, but right now I am focusing on getting to Regionals. That is the #1 goal I have on my mind. Like I said, I wasn’t happy with my score, I need to stop letting NUMBERS/PLACES dictate how I feel and remember what I am trying to achieve in the long run.
What does your routine look like the day of an event like a 14.1?
Nothing out of the ordinary. The only thing that is different is I workout in the morning rather than in the evening. Besides that, nothing changes.
Do you make any changes to your training during the open or do you keep it the same as it has been?
I do not make any changes. Right now I am still working a full-time 50hr a week job. I only get a certain amount of time I am able to get in the gym, I do not have room to ease up on my training. I still have my weaknesses and I still am working on turning those in to my strengths. Hopefully sooner rather than later I will be fortunate enough to train full-time, but until then I have to hit it while I can!
Best of luck to you on 14.2!
