Testosterone is an essential hormone. It plays a number of important roles in the male body, such as maintaining healthy levels of libido as well as building muscle. As one gets older, less of this hormone is produced. This is when it becomes necessary to use supplements to boost the levels of this hormone in your body. There are numerous testosterone supplements on the market, and knowing which one to choose can be something of a challenge. One such supplement is the Super Test product by Beast Sports, and here is a candid review of the product.
What is Super Test?
Super Test is a Testosterone booster made by the Beast Sports Nutrition Company. The company has been in existence since 1995, and it is considered a reputable manufacturer of nutritional supplements. This product is touted to have quite a number of benefits for the body. These include the following:
- It helps to boost your mental capabilities
- It helps you maintain a healthy sex drive
- It promotes muscle growth
- It boosts your energy levels
- It also helps to detoxify your liver and kidneys
The product comes in a pack of 45 tablets. Although the manufacturers claim that the product will work wonders for you, research is not so enthusiastic about the results you should expect.
Who is Super Test For?
Super Test should ideally be used by any man seeking to boost his testosterone levels. If you think that low testosterone levels are responsible for a dwindling sex drive or even a decline in your energy levels, then this is a product you might consider using. It is also meant to make bodybuilding and strength training much easier and more productive.
Ingredients in Super Test
That the Super Test supplement is made of a plethora of ingredients is an undeniable fact. Some of the ingredients on the list are actually quite potent, while a good number have no proven benefits in so far as increasing testosterone production is concerned. Here are 9 of the major ingredients contained in the product:
1. Puncture Sheath
Scientifically known as Tribulus Terrestris, this is a medicinal herb whose effect on testosterone production in the body is yet to be proven. The plant has long been used in Indian medicine, although recent research shows that it might not be as potent as it is thought to be.
This natural ingredient is thought to reduce stress, this is important because that leads to less cortisol production in the body and cortisol can be a real testosterone killer. The only flaw in the plan is that you need to consume large quantities of the product in order to see any results. If any results are to be seen by using Super Test, then nearly half the product should comprise of this herb. Given that the product contains well over ten ingredients, it is highly unlikely that half of it is made of Ashwagandha. You, therefore, shouldn’t expect to see much change with this low dose.
3. Rhodiola Extract
This ingredient is used to boost your mental wellness. With the ingredient, you should be able to concentrate well for long. It is also thought to improve clarity of mind as well as to bolster your memory. Another advantage that comes with using this ingredient is that it increases your energy levels, thus resulting in more productivity at the gym. Like Ashwagandha, however, you need to consume it in large quantities in order to see any effects. It is highly likely that Super Test contains less than optimal amounts of the extract.
Fenugreek is arguably the only effective ingredient contained in the product. There is research to show that it actually does boost testosterone levels. It does this by regulating blood sugar levels, which in turn ensures that testosterone levels remain constant. A spike in blood sugar levels results in lower testosterone, which is why blood sugar regulation is critical. Another perk of this ingredient is that it suppresses appetite, which is great if you are trying to shed some pounds or lose that stubborn belly fat. The only problem is that there is no indication of how much Fenugreek is contained in the product. It is possible that Super Test contains only a negligible amount of this herb.
L- Arginine is known to boost nitric oxide levels in the blood, which then promotes intense pumping as you work out. However, it is poorly absorbed by the body, and this reduces its effectiveness a great deal.
6. Japanese Knotweed
This herb helps to reduce inflammation in the body thanks to its active ingredient, Resveratrol. It is also touted to help reduce estrogen levels in the body, although research backing this claim is shaky.
7. Diindolylmethane (DIM)
The main purpose of this ingredient is to prevent the conversion of testosterone to estrogen. Taken in large amounts, however, it will have just the opposite effect. Its inclusion in this product definitely subtracts from the value of the product.
8. Nettle Root Extract
The product also contains Nettle Root extract, which is known to boost testosterone levels. It also has anti-inflammatory properties, which might come in handy in promoting muscle healing after rigorous work out sessions.
Zinc is likely the best mineral out there when it comes to boosting testosterone levels. Studies have shown that zinc supplementation can increase testosterone significantly while restricting zinc intake lowers testosterone levels.
One major downfall with the ingredients is that much of it is in a proprietary blend so we have no idea what the exact dosages are and there is no way to find out. This is a very disingenuous way to label the product and it can be hard to determine if you will have side effects too it when you don’t even know how much of each ingredient is in there. All supplements should be clearly labeled with exact dosages on the label so customers know exactly what they will be getting.
Dosage With Super Test
Dosing with Super Test is 4 capsules twice a day. That is actually a bit on the low side. If you want to increase your testosterone levels we recommend 3-4 doses per day spread out so your testosterone levels don’t drop between doses. That is much more effective. 1 or 2 doses will lead to your test levels yo-yoing during the day which isn’t what you want.
Super Test Side Effects
There are no harmful side effects that are associated with using the product in the right amounts. However, taking too much of it will cause DIM to lower testosterone levels, which is exactly what you do not want.
Reviews for Super Test
Reviews for this product are mixed as most supplements are. It gets a 4-star rating on Amazon but those Amazon reviews are very unreliable. 4 stars on Amazon is actually kind of low.
Some reviews say it worked great, then there were many others that said it did nothing and was a waste of money.
Most of the negative reviews said it was too expensive and that it only mildly affected their libido and nothing else.
Pros and Cons of Super Test
- Uses some effective ingredients
- Reputable name
- Uses proprietary blend
- Uses some ineffective ingredients
- only 2 doses per day
Will Super Test Work for You?
Super Test is a decent testosterone booster. It attracts love and hatred in equal measure. There are those that swear by the product, whereas others are sorely disappointed in it. Reviews are conflicting. At best, it is an average product that provides average results. You can expect to see a slight improvement in your testosterone levels, but don’t expect too much of it.
Super Test is certainly not the best testosterone booster in the market. There are numerous other products that are far better and much more effective than it. As you have seen from this Super Test review, most of its mediocrity stems from the use of the average ingredients. There are much more potent ingredients that are missing from this product. And even the few effective products contained in Super Test are likely to take up very little of the product. On the whole, it is a good product, but far from the best, any of the products on our top 5 testosterone boosters list would be a much better choice.
