IFBB Fitness Model Austria Stephanie Davis Talks With TheAthleticBuild.com

How did you get started in fitness?

I’ve have been in sports my whole life, there is horseback riding, gymnastics, athletics .. Since 2 years already I go to the gym 3 to 4 times. I motivate myself every day and look at other fitness pics, pages or quotes. Even as a child I couldn’t sit still and always and everywhere I had to test out my physical limits. Whether this was always so good, I do not know haha. Then I met more and more people from the fitness scene, and as so often, it comes from one to another and eventually I applied spontaneously in my first fitness competition. I won it and became champion. After that my love was finally brought to the sport.

What is your favorite body part to train?

Booty, shoulder and abs ! I am actually very slim and thin and therefore I need to build more mass in my lower body. Leg training is the most exhausting workout, so I do it only once a week  but then very accurate and clean. I love it very much to see changes on my shoulder and arms. My supreme discipline of the upper and lower abdomen. I really like – or better – LOVE a well-shaped belly (female or male), not too much but not too small.

Can you give us a sample of your routine?

I do a 4 split since the last few months, it works better for me. I do 2 40-minute cardio sessions, in off season, with the focus on uphill walking. I train my whole body twice a week and legs once. For example
Day one: Pulldowns, Pull-Ups, Deadlifts, Shoulder press..
Day two: Lunge, Dips, Curls, Crunches..
Day three: Upper arms, Pistols, Crunches, Dips..
Day four: Cardio
Day five: Frontsquats, Squats, Leg press, Deadlifts..

What kind of music do you listen to when you are working out?

I really like listen to HipHop/Rap on normal train days. The funny thing is, on cardio days I’m always listen to Dubstep and Heavy Metal. My fav song btw is from Slaughterhouse “my life”

We all have at least one, what is the most embarrassing song on your iPod?

Oh my god, yea “soul bossa nova” from Austin Powers – everytime when I hear it, I have to change the song, but I never delete it and I don’t know why hahaha..

What does your diet look like when you are trying to get lean?

I need a lot of protein and carbs, to build any mass at all. I’m going to eat clean and healthy so I try to eat 4 times daily. Preparing for a shoot or a Bikini competition, I eat a lot of oatmeal, rice cakes and egg omelets, but always using the egg white. It’s very important to drink a lot of water, to regulate your water balance.

List the top 10 foods we would find in your kitchen:

  • Eggs
  • Oatmeal
  • Chicken
  • Meat
  • Salad
  • Tuna
  • Salmon
  • Potatoes
  • Rice
  • Almonds

What kind of cardio do you like best and why?

I’m a little running chick. I love to run in the fresh air. But in the wintertime I’m often on a Cross-stepper, it works best for tighten my glutes and builds them. You should not train only one type of fitness, there should be a healthy mix of strength and endurance. Also stairs are very helpful, they’re everywhere and you haven’t to go to a gym. Gets the circulation going and also tightens your ass and thigh.

If you could give somebody only one bodybuilding tip what would it be?

Only one tip is very difficult, but I guess the most important thing is, stay always focus ! Pay attention to you and your body, not just only in Fitness and Bodybuilding. You need a lot of ambition and ability to get things done.  Especially in this sport ! Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will!

Tell us about your biggest fitness influence?

Is the IFBB Austria Family like Jörg Kapfer, Wolfgang Schober & Andrea Lackner. They really know how to motivate.  But Larissa Reis and Nicole Nagrani have been the most influential throughout the last time.

Favorite cheat food?

Clearly I love: candy, pizza & ice cream. In the competitive time, there’s no cheating day sadly 😉 But try and fail is the manner of losers, try and learn is the way of the strong, so I’m always stay focus on my personal aim. So it is not difficult to me to throw out these things on my food list.

Do you take any supplements?

I make sure that I have a proper balance of everything I need for healthy, natural and injury free training. Like protein powder (my fav flavor is chocolate and almond) little Creatine for my mass, Casein,  BCAA’s for sure, L-carnitine, Preworkout Booster, Vitamins, Omega3 and so on.. Isolate protein works best for me and my body.

What does the future hold for you?

I hope only good things and moments! I just turned 22 and would like to still still be better and be more active in the fitness scene. Or connect my hobby with my lifestyle. I’ve met so many wonderful people, that makes it quite easy to find real motivation. I also love all the sweat, hard work  and freedom at training. A beautiful addition result is a healthy toned body. I would also like to do more in the future, photo shoots, videos and so on. That would be pretty awesome !
