A high school friend had opened up a box and suggested I try it out. I was pregnant with bambino numero 2 at the time so I declined (silly me). But a few months after having my son, a friend I trained with suggested we try Crossfit out, so I called up my friend and there it began!!
Do you ever do any other kind of weight training or are you 100% CrossFit?
Does your workout consist of a WOD or do you do extra work on top of that?
Usually just one WOD. As Game Season gets closer, I do some extra lifting and skill sessions with my coach.
Do you do more than one CrossFit workout per day?
For the most part, I do one Crossfit workout a day. 3 days in a row. 1 rest day. I like doing one a day because then I can give it as much intensity as possible. Quality vs Quantity. Perhaps if I had oodles of free time, I would do more but I’m a mama on the go!
What kind of music do you listen to when you are working out?
Oh boy! I’m basically a 14 year old girl at heart musically. I love me some top 40 POP.
We all have at least one, what is the most embarrassing song on your iPod?
Hmmm…. I gave up being embarrassed about music a long time ago and just accepted that Backstreet Boys are awesome and their music is catchy! Any music that gets my mojo going is good!
What does your diet look?
I eat pretty much the same Breakfast and Lunch every day. Dinner is somewhat varied. I don’t love to cook and am often on the go so its whatever is fast and healthy and balanced!
What are the top 10 foods we would find in our kitchen?
Almond Butter (serious addiction to it)
What is least favorite CrossFit exercises/workouts?
Least favorite is skanky L-Sit holds. They KILL me. And that makes me mental!!
If you could give somebody starting in CrossFit some advice what would it be?
I would validate that it can be a roller coaster. Some days you love it and others you think forget this action!! But if you commit to it for even 6 weeks, you’ll be hooked. The physical results are only one aspect of why it’s so awesome. The relationships and FUN that working out with other people brings into your life is what is truly addictive about Crossfit.
Tell us about your biggest CrossFit influence?
I’d have to go with Alicia Connors – Canada Regionals First Place Winner 2010 and Games athlete 2010 and 2011 and future podium superstar! Her humble attitude, dedication and pure GO factor are like nothing I’ve seen before.
Favorite cheat food?
Oh boy there are a LOT of cheat foods I like!! Peanut butter and chocolate in any combination rock my world. As does Nutella. Its SO GOOD!! Oh great, now I have a craving!!
Do you take any supplements?
Fish Oil and Probiotic and that’s it.
What does the future hold for you?
Hmmmm – what DOES the future hold for me? I plan on training to compete again this year and just take it one WOD at a time. Always so much to work on and get better at and that’s the beauty of Crossfit!
