Alcohol and Muscle Building – The Relationship

Working out and drinking beer, it doesn’t get much more manly than that unless you add chopping firewood to the list.

But is it really a good idea to be drinking if you are trying to add muscle? Will hitting the bars and keg parties ruin your hopes of having a dream body?

There are definitely some things alcohol can do that will affect your muscle building efforts. A few of these include:

  • Dehydration
  • Inhibiting protein synthesis
  • Lowers testosterone levels
  • Inhibits decision making on your diet and gives you the munchies

So with all that said you should probably avoid alcohol completely right? Most of you can breathe a big sigh of relief because you don’t have to quit boozing entirely.
